Approved examples include acquisition or leasing of machinery such as specialized automation equipment or collaborative robotics, along with specialized hardware or software including IIoT, cybersecurity, and predictive maintenance.

Late-stage product testing, scaling of new products, and development and commercialization of new products are also included.

For the 2025 cycle, applications opened April 15, 2025 and closed April 30, 2025, and the application window is now closed.

The program is aimed at Illinois manufacturers with NAICS codes 31–33, employing between 5 and 250 employees, operating in Illinois for at least three years, and recording sales revenue in the last 12 months.
