System Modernizing

What it looks like in practice

How a custom quoting tool increased quote accuracy and productivity

system modernizing

For many manufacturing leaders, the idea of switching from paper or legacy systems to digital tools feels risky. The fear isn’t just about cost—it’s about losing control, breaking workflows, and overwhelming the team.

But modernization doesn’t have to be disruptive. In fact, when it’s done right, it strengthens the way your business already works.

Take Gregory Container, a manufacturer in Iowa. Their president didn’t want a generic software overhaul. He wanted a quoting tool that fit his team’s process—and made it better.

We built a custom quoting module that did exactly that.

  • Quote errors dropped
  • Sales staff now include everything up front
  • Project discrepancies are down
  • Accuracy is up

And the best part? The transition didn’t require retraining the entire team or shutting down operations. It was built around how they already quote jobs—just with better structure, visibility, and accountability.

That’s what modernization without disruption looks like.

You don’t need to change everything. You need to improve what’s already working.

If you’re still using paper or spreadsheets, we’ll start with one process—like quoting, inventory, or purchase orders—and build from there. No downtime. No surprises. Just steady improvement.

Modernizing with Minimal Disruptions

Challenge

Inconsistent quoting that could not be tracked caused problems in production.
Spreadsheets would get lost and custom options would be missed.
Sales staff would get frustrated as customers argued about quoted prices versus actual production costs.

Solution

We Converted the quoting spreadsheet by using existing formulas and selection items.
We were able to create a custom Configure Price Quote (CPQ) system that allowed quotes to be configured with all options of the containers based on logic and product types.
In the system we are able to link the quoted items to Bill of Material templates that are based on existing prices.
In the end the process allows sales staff to produce Bill of Materials for quoted products based on selections made in the configured options.

Outcome

  • Quote errors dropped
  • Sales staff now include everything up front
  • Project discrepancies are down
  • Accuracy is up

Testimonial

“What the new system has done is increase the accuracy of our quotes to where we don’t leave off critical options requested by our customers.”
